9/11 Ten Year Anniversary

Reflecting on the epic events of September 11, 2001, I remembered sitting in English class during homecoming week in high school.  Wearing Mom's purple sweater, hot pink scrunch-down socks, and bright shoes, I felt a wave of shock and grief flood to my stomach.  We watched throughout the day until my science teacher turned off the t.v.

A few kids in my class passed away throughout our high school educations.  One of them was in several of my honors classes, and accidentally choked while using drugs.  I'd always thought of him as a handsome young man, who knew a lot and always joked in our classes.  At his funeral there were slips of paper where you could write notes to the family.   I told them I would prayer for their family.

I do remember.

Johnson American Gothic

I've started researching the immigrant ancestors of Grandpa Johnson's Dad, Chesley Austin Johnson.  He was named after his father, Austin Welch Johnson.  I just love these pictures I found of Austin and his wife, Agnes, our very own American Gothic.
