Spring Adventures 2017

We've been having our friend, Mr H, over to watch once or twice a week lately, and he is so sweet. Some days we try to be adventurous, and other days we just stay inside to play.

One of the families in our apartment complex organized everything to get an official sandbox last year, since the kids used to go dig in the dirt in that corner anyway. It's especially nice when there's a little moisture in the sand, so our sandcastles will hold their shapes. Mostly, we just like to dig, though.

One day our library had a community fair, which turned out to be a business/organization booth fair, but we got some swag, face paintings, and time with some clay, so we had fun. We also learned about the 3-D printer the library lets patrons use, and got to see it work on some latticed plastic toys. I learned about the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program, so we've got a late start tracking the books for Miss V, but are right on track for Mr C.

At the parks, I worry less about Miss V now that she has some fear and some courage, and more about Mr C, who has not quite gained the former. I must say, springtime it a wonderful outdoors time of year.

Let's Go Fly a Kite

From the mystical slightly-cracked Winnie the Pooh cookie jar, we drew from the list of family activities, "Fly Kites." At the dollar store we found Miss Barbie and Mr Raphael Ninja Turtle. Since we have houses and trees around our place, we walked down the street to a church with a big grassy field. For the first while we had some good breezes, but slowly the the wind died. It had been long enough for me that I had to relearn how to properly launch the kite. I think the kids had an enjoyable "first."
