Elizabeth Craig Possibilities

Huzzah!  Today I noticed an email received from a distant relative who found my blog.  Debbie searched for Elizabeth Craig, wife of Benjamin Kimball Hall, and came across my post:  Countries of Origin IV.*

She emailed some possible pictures of my 5x-Great-Grandmother, Elizabeth Craig Simpson Hall.

Elizabeth was born 12 April 1801 in Prestonpans,  Scotland, and died 7 November 1872 in Ogden, Utah.  It's somewhat unlikely that the image of the girl could have been captured this well when Elizabeth was young enough to be in the picture.  I'm not sure, but the young lady is probably not her.  They sure do resemble one another, though.  The couple could very well be Elizabeth and Benjamin Kimball Hall.  Thanks, Debbie.

Hooper Family Portraits

Mom arranged a photo shoot with a professional photographer friend of hers.  She gave Mom the print release, but not copyright, so I'm doing my darndest to not violate copyright and photoshop the images.

I haven't gotten the actual family shots with all of us from Mom yet.

RobandSusanPages

Dad's sister, Susan, and her husband, Rob, have done an excellent job putting family photos and histories on their website, robandsusanpages.com.

Rob has uploaded and categorized a great deal of information, with an index, so if you're looking into the Hooper side of my family, their website is a great resource.

Thanks, Rob and Susan.

Mom and Baby Me

I was Mom's and Dad's second child, second daughter.  From Mom I gained a love of books, and a tendency to fall asleep while trying to read aloud at night.  She's been called "Super Hooper" by her co-workers because she just keeps going.  We both love spending time with family.  She goes above and beyond with service, always thinking of what she can do for others.  Today, we drove up the street together to pick something up from the neighbor's.  "Oh, I should have made cookies or something."  My siblings came over yesterday, and she sent some homemade jumbalaya with them.  I love you, Mom.

Johnson Grandkids

Back when I was the baby of the bunch on Mom's side of the family, the grandkids were adorable, albeit not very smiley.

Schönbrunn Palace

Last June when Zak and I went to Switzerland with our study abroad program, we ventured to Austria.  I wanted to get a view of the city and see the elegant Schönbrunn Palace.  We didn't pay the fee to go inside (past the jungle-themed bathrooms), so we toured the beautiful gardens, statues, and fountains on the ground.  I loved it, and could've stayed there all day.
